Meet the characters
Elena Aadya Ravence
Her mother had thrown herself into the Eternal Fire because she loved it. Her father held fire because he needed it. But Elena? She balanced on her toes, her eyes trained on the flame as it danced with the night breeze.
She would control it.
Meet Elena, the heir to the Ravani throne. Quick-witted, fierce, and trained in the desert ways, Elena is willing to do anything for her kingdom. Sometimes, her love for her home drives her to unfamiliar territories, ones in which she does not even recognize herself. But Elena knows that she must walk the Agneepath. She must hold fire.
Or else lose her kingdom.
Yassen Knight
Yassen knew he would never be accepted. His was the life between edges. Between Ravence and Jantar, right and wrong, holy and damned.
Meet Yassen, a former assassin of the notorious criminal organization, the Arohassin. Yassen is half-Jantari and half-Ravani. His is the life between edges, between identities. Now, Yassen must return back home to help Elena ascend the throne.
If he doesn’t, he dies.
If he does, he wins his freedom.
Or so they say.
Leo Malhari Ravence
He was the sun that beat down from the heavens; he was the twin moons that helped Alabore build his kingdom.
He was Leo, the king of Ravence, the son of Ramandra, grandson of Kishi.
He was a part of history, and he was creating history.
Meet Leo, the King of Ravence. Sharp, cruel, and ruthless, Leo has steered his kingdom through wars, coups, assassination attempts, and more. Now, his daughter will ascend to the throne. But an ancient prophecy threatens to decimate their home before the coronation. Leo must do everything to stop it.
Or watch his kingdom crumble to ash.
Ferma
Elena admired the Yumi’s elegance. Without a word, Ferma could command a room. Without a sound, she could murder a man.
Meet Ferma, Elena’s Spear, or head guard. A Yumi, Ferma is a powerful warrior whose hair can transform into shards, cutting through diamonds and flesh.
Ferma has raised, trained, and cared for Elena ever since her mother, the queen, died when the princess was young. Now, Ferma must defend the heir as she ascends to the throne.
Samson Kytuu
He was handsome, strikingly so, with a gait that reminded her of a lion in the desert, slowly circling his prey.
Samson Kytuu is Sayon’s most wealthy militant. Charming, smart, and quick with a sword, Samson has enamored both kings and queens. His army, the Black Scales, has never lost a war.
As Yassen’s childhood best friend, Samson has a soft spot for the assassin, as well as a blood debt. Yassen helped Samson escape the cruel criminal organization of the Arohassin. So when Yassen asks for Samson’s help, he gives it readily — or so it seems.
